AI Aquarium Screensaver 1.7 Released — A More Living, Intelligent Underwater World

We are excited to announce the release of AI Aquarium Screensaver 1.7, a major update that makes your virtual aquarium more alive than ever.
AI Aquarium Screensaver has always been designed around one simple idea:
This is not a video. It is a living underwater world.
Unlike traditional screensavers that simply play a predefined animation, AI Aquarium runs its creatures and environments in real time. Fish move independently, interact with their surroundings, and continuously change their behavior.
With version 1.7, we are taking another step toward that vision.
The new version introduces crawling aquarium snails, enhanced fish social behavior, and cinematic background transitions, while continuing to support a growing ecosystem of fish and aquatic creatures.

🌊 A Living Aquarium, Not a Looping Video
AI Aquarium Screensaver is built as a real-time underwater simulation.
Fish don't simply follow a repeating animation path.
Each creature can make movement decisions independently, allowing the aquarium to continuously change as you watch.
In previous versions, we introduced additional aquatic creatures such as Salamanders in V1.5 and Axolotls in V1.6. Version 1.7 expands the ecosystem again with a new creature that lives primarily on the aquarium floor: the snail.
Now there is activity at different levels of the aquarium:
Fish swim through the water.
Salamanders explore the bottom.
Axolotls move through their environment.
Snails slowly crawl across the aquarium floor.
The result is a more complete and natural-looking underwater ecosystem.

🐌 New in Version 1.7 — Aquarium Snails
One of the most visible additions in version 1.7 is the new aquarium snail system.
Unlike fish, snails don't swim through open water.
They slowly crawl across the aquarium floor, exploring rocks, plants, and other parts of the environment.
This seemingly small addition makes a surprisingly large difference to the atmosphere of the aquarium.
Instead of focusing only on what happens in the middle of the screen, you can now discover small movements happening throughout the entire environment.
Life Happens at Every Level
Fish occupy the water column.
Salamanders and axolotls interact closer to the bottom.
Snails slowly explore the substrate.
This creates a stronger sense that the aquarium is an ecosystem rather than a collection of animated objects.

🐟 New & Improved — Social Fish Behavior
Another major focus of version 1.7 is the behavior system.
Fish are no longer simply moving around independently.
Their behavior has been expanded to better represent different social and environmental situations.
The new system includes five major behavioral patterns:
Wandering
Fish casually explore the aquarium without following a fixed route.
Schooling
Fish can gather together and form groups, creating natural-looking schools that continuously change shape and direction.
Foraging
When searching for food, fish can change their movement patterns and gather around feeding areas.
Courtship
Fish can interact with each other in ways associated with courtship behavior, adding another layer of life to the aquarium.
Fleeing
When disturbed, fish can rapidly change direction and escape, creating sudden changes in the movement of the aquarium.

🧠 From Fish Animation to Fish Behavior
This is an important part of our long-term development.
We don't want AI Aquarium Screensaver to simply contain more animated fish.
We want the fish to behave differently.
A peaceful aquarium might have fish slowly wandering through the plants.
A moment later, several fish may gather into a school.
After feeding, nearby fish can become more active as they search for food.
A disturbance can suddenly cause fish to accelerate and flee.
The aquarium therefore doesn't have one fixed animation.
It continuously changes.

🦎 Salamanders & Axolotls
AI Aquarium Screensaver is also becoming more than a traditional fish-only screensaver.
Salamanders, introduced in V1.5, brought a new type of movement to the aquarium with their bottom-oriented locomotion.
Axolotls, introduced in V1.6, expanded the creature ecosystem even further.
Version 1.7 continues to build on this direction.
Rather than having every creature behave like a fish, different creatures are designed around different movement characteristics.
This allows the aquarium to feel more diverse and natural.

🌌 New Aquarium Background Transitions
Version 1.7 also introduces a new way to move between aquarium environments.
Instead of instantly switching from one background to another, you can now choose from multiple transition effects.
Available transition modes include:
•    Fade
•    Slide
•    Wipe
•    Dissolve
•    Zoom
•    Blinds
•    Flip
•    Ripple
•    Wash
•    Random
The Random option allows the aquarium to automatically choose different transition styles, creating a continuously changing visual experience.

🐠 175+ Fish Species
Version 1.7 continues to include 175+ freshwater and saltwater fish species.
From colorful tropical fish to peaceful freshwater species and marine fish, each species contributes to the diversity of the aquarium.
The goal isn't simply to create a large catalog of fish.
It is to combine different species with different behaviors and environments to create scenes that can evolve over time.

🌎 The Vision Behind AI Aquarium
AI Aquarium Screensaver started with a simple goal:
Make the Windows desktop feel alive.
We don't want to create another looping fish video.
We want to build a virtual underwater world where different creatures move differently, react to their environment, interact with each other, and create scenes that are never exactly the same.
That vision is becoming clearer with every version.
Fish swim.
Schools gather.
Fish search for food.
Fish interact.
Fish flee.
Salamanders explore.
Axolotls move through the water.
Snails crawl across the bottom.
And entire underwater worlds transform around them.
