How to Set Up Fish School Screensaver as Your Windows Screen Saver
The Fish School Screensaver brings vivid, dynamic fish swarm effects to your computer, creating a vivid underwater visual experience when your device is idle. If you’ve downloaded the screensaver package and don’t know how to install and enable it, this step-by-step guide will walk you through the complete setup process for Windows systems.
Step 1: Extract the Compressed Screensaver Package
First, locate the downloaded compressed file named FishSchoolScreensaver.zip on your computer. This is a packaged archive containing all the essential files required for the screensaver to run properly.
- Right-click on the FishSchoolScreensaver.zip file.
- Select the extraction option from the pop-up menu—you can use the built-in Windows extraction tool or third-party software like WinRAR and 7-Zip.
- Choose a storage path and start unzipping the file.
- After extraction, open the newly generated FishSchoolScreensaver folder. Inside, you will find the core FishSchoolScreensaver.scr screensaver executable file, along with several dynamic link library (DLL) files that support the program’s operation. These DLL files are critical for the screensaver to load and run normally, so you must not delete or omit any of them.
Step 2: Copy and Paste All Files to the System Directory
To make the Windows system recognize and call the Fish School Screensaver, you need to place all related files into the designated system folder. The target directory is the SysWoW64 folder under the Windows root directory.
- Return to the extracted FishSchoolScreensaver folder, press Ctrl + A to select all files in the folder, then press Ctrl + C to copy them.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to your Windows system directory. For most users, the default path is:
plaintext
C:\Windows\SysWoW64
- Enter the SysWoW64 folder, right-click on a blank area, and select Paste, or press Ctrl + V to paste all the copied screensaver files.
- If a user account control prompt or file replacement prompt pops up during the process, select Allow or Replace the file in the destination to grant the necessary permissions.
Step 3: Enable and Configure the Fish School Screensaver
Once the files are placed in the correct system directory, Windows will automatically identify the new screensaver program, and you can enable it in the system settings.
- Right-click on a blank area of your desktop, and select Personalize from the menu.
- In the Personalization settings page, find and click the Lock screen option.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Lock screen page and click Screen saver settings to open the screensaver configuration panel.
- Click the drop-down menu under “Screen saver”, and you will see FishSchoolScreensaver listed as an available option. Select it.
- You can click Preview to view the full-screen effect of the fish swarm screensaver in advance.
- Adjust the “Wait” time to set how long your computer needs to be idle before the screensaver activates. You can also check “On resume, display logon screen” if you want the system to require a login when exiting the screensaver.
- Finally, click Apply and then OK to save all settings.
From now on, when your computer reaches the set idle time, the Fish School Screensaver will automatically launch, displaying a smooth and lively fish swarm animation on your screen. If you want to disable or switch to another screensaver later, just repeat the screen saver settings steps and select a different option.
